Pampas is a protected area located in Beni, Bolivia. It’s known to be the ideal place to see large groups of wildlife due to the low vegetation and flooded areas.

This extended tour will allow you to go beyond Pampas to visit Aguaisal, a small community with almost zero tourism activity while increasing your chances to find two endemic species (Lucachi Monkey and Blue-throated Macaw).

Itinerary: Aguaisal 3 days 2 nights

Day 1 – Rurrenabaque – Pampas del Yacuma

The journey begins at 8.30 am from Rurrenabaque, with comfortable cars in a 3-hour ride to Santa Rosa. On the way, you will be able to see many species of birds, capybaras, and even sloths. Arrival at Santa Rosa’s port and after lunch, we will travel by river to the Refugio. We will appreciate the typical “sabana” landscape from Beni and other animals like monkeys, turtles, caimans, capybaras, and many more! Plenty of chances to take beautiful pictures. Arrival at the lodge, enjoy a nice welcome drink and get comfortable in your room.

Day 2 – Pampas del Yacuma – Rurrenabaque

The day begins early since we are traveling by boat to see the sunrise from the Yacuma River. After breakfast we will do a short excursion through small woods and lagoons. With a little luck we might even see the “anaconda”! Return to the lodge. After lunch we hop on again on our boats and sail on the river looking after the famous “bufeo” or pink dolphin. If you feel like, you can even swim with them. After dinner, a short “night trip” awaits for us. We will look for nocturnal animals and of course for the shining eyes of the caimans, a very exciting experience.
